The in-game menu is full of options that either have no meaning or don’t work.

Let’s go through them.

File Selecting scenarios does not work until we manage to exit a scenario.
Selecting a vehicle does not work at all; there is absolutely no GUI for that.
(But maybe this menu should be it?)

Controls Smooth View is actually pretty usable there, and it works, too.

View This has many options, and almost all of them work!
I’ll remove Debug > Tile States because it’s been broken for ages.

Game The three game modes are actually useful during debugging.
Stores … never worked and probably never will.
Out of the Difficulty settings, only Unlimited Ammo works and is extremely useful during debugging! I will remove the other settings.

A future version should remove the whole menu bar and replace it with a nice GUI that comes up when you press Esc …

Useless items have now been removed.
