In the extracted data for TFX and inferno, there are a bunch of MIDI files which start with 'OSL1' as the first 4 bytes.
Probably the 'OS' relates to Ocean Software who provided the music to their various developers and used a program called MEdit as part of the process.

The download seems to contain a copy of the Inferno soundtrack, although I haven''t yet tallied the names to what I've extracted.

Yes, something that needs to be investigated. As I understand it, OSL1 is a common format, but different files are produced depending on whether it was aimed at Adlib, Soundblaster or Roland. The paths and extensions visible in the TFX did.dat hint at this, but I haven't proved it yet.
