✔️ NEW FEATURE: EF2000 Scenario Descriptions

Post by Krishty »

Most of the EF2000 scenarios have no description, except for Norway (Clear Day). Some even have TODO in their title.

Hidden levels will soon have briefings. I also removed these levels that cannot even load, as they are useless to players.

Here is the list for review and search engine optimization:
Libya

One of the levels from Tactical Fighter eXperiment. The developers probably forgot to remove it before shipping EF2000.

Issues

Some terrain meshes have been overwritten with EF2000 data, so you may see a few icy mountains in the desert. Some buildings have been replaced with hills or even fighter jets.

The original color palettes for this level have yet to be found. It uses the color palette of Norway instead.
Atlantic

Wide, empty sea.

Origin and purpose of this level are unknown. It has nothing to do with the Atlantic level in Tactical Fighter eXperiment.

Issues

The water texture has been overwritten with a shore texture from EF2000. The level now looks like an endless swamp.

The original color palettes for this level have yet to be found. It uses the color palette of Norway instead.
Angola

Origin and purpose of this level are unknown. Judging from the flat-shaded graphics, it must be from the era of Tactical Fighter eXperiment.

Issues

Some terrain meshes have been overwritten with EF2000 data, so you may see icy mountains interspersed with jungle. Some buildings have been replaced with hills or even fighter jets.

The original color palettes for this level have yet to be found. It uses one of EF2000’s internal palettes instead. Thus, it probably looks more saturated than originally intended.
Craig

An empty island in the style of EF2000’s Norway.

Origin and purpose of this level are unknown. Judging from the graphics, it must be from early EF2000 development.

Issues

A few terrain meshes are missing, so expect large holes in the ground. These are further amplified by some broken textures.
Faeroe Islands

The Faeroes.

Origin and purpose of this level are unknown. Judging from the flat-shaded graphics, it must be from the era of Tactical Fighter eXperiment.

Issues

Some terrain meshes have been overwritten with EF2000 data, so you may see icy mountains interspersed with small islands.

The water texture has been overwritten with a shore texture from EF2000. The level now looks like an endless swamp.

The original color palettes for this level have yet to be found. It uses the color palette of Norway instead.
Hasbro

An empty island in the style of EF2000’s Norway.

This level is indeed named after the toy company. Digital Image Design and Hasbro were setting up a cooperation, but nothing came out of it. What exactly they tried to achieve is lost in time.

It could have been about Toast, Hasbro’s cancelled virtual reality headset. After all, DID had some VR experience through the VFX1 headgear supported in EF2000.

Issues

Some textures are broken, so you may see holes in the ground.
Iceland

Beautiful mountains, rivers, coasts, and glaciers. You may even find a secret military facility!

Probably the most advanced hidden level. Its origin and purpose are unknown. Judging from the graphics, it must be from early EF2000 development.

Issues

Some terrain meshes have been overwritten with EF2000 data, so you may see holes in the ground or icy mountains in the middle of green valleys.

Terrain size is wrong. Everything appears larger than it should be.

The original color palettes for this level have yet to be found. It uses the color palette of Norway instead.
Korea

Origin and purpose of this level are unknown. Judging from the flat-shaded graphics, it must be from the era of Tactical Fighter eXperiment.

Issues

Some terrain meshes have been overwritten with EF2000 data, so you may see icy mountains interspersed with jungle. Some buildings have been replaced with hills or even fighter jets.

The original color palettes for this level have yet to be found. It uses one of EF2000’s internal palettes instead. Thus, it probably looks different than originally intended.
Martin

A large island.

This hidden level is almost error-free. Its origin and purpose are unknown. Judging from the graphics, it must be from early EF2000 development.
New World

A beta version of the Norway level.
Wales

Origin and purpose of this level are unknown. Judging from the flat-shaded graphics, it must be from the era of Tactical Fighter eXperiment.

Issues

Some terrain meshes have been overwritten with EF2000 data, so you may see icy mountains interspersed with jungle. Some buildings have been replaced with hills or even fighter jets.

The original color palettes for this level have yet to be found. It uses one of EF2000’s internal palettes instead. Thus, it probably looks different than originally intended.
Norway (South-West, 4)

One of the first drafts of EF2000’s Norway map.

Levels in DID’s previous games were limited to 1000×1000 kilometers in size. This is the first level to support 2000×2000 km. At the time, DID also experimented with splitting Norway into four separate levels – this is the South-West piece.

Issues

Most terrain meshes have been replaced for the final EF2000 version, so the level is almost completely deformed.
Norway (Small)

One of the first drafts of EF2000’s Norway map.

While the final Norway version was 2000×2000 kilometers large, this version still uses the 1000×1000 km technology from DID’s earlier games.
Issues

Most terrain meshes have been replaced for the final EF2000 version, so the level is almost completely deformed.
I should probably sort the levels from most to least playable.
