After cloning the repository, TFXplorer cannot be compiled from Visual Studio without first compiling it via command line. The error is
error : build.ninja:1: loading 'host.ninja': The system cannot find the file specified.
host.ninja contains the host architecture (32-bit vs. 64-bit, Linux vs. Windows) for selecting the correct build tools. Therefore its content is machine-specific; we cannot check it into the repository. It is generated automatically from build.cmd before it invokes Ninja.
The most likely cause is Visual Studio calling Ninja directly instead of calling build.cmd.
Calling build.cmd once generates host.ninja and thus makes the problem go away, this is why I didn’t see it during my testing.
