Re: Jet Engine Simulation
I just noticed that the new API “broke” contrails. They still work, just a lot less intensive than before. This is an effect of the F-22’s corrected fuel consumption – less fuel means less water vapor emission. I’ll adjust it and release a fix. The water vapor emission code was mostly guesswork; som...

The repository has been force-pushed to a new version. git pull --rebase is required. fixed rendering of bullets fixed F-22 gear not retracting Under some circumstances (very soft take-off or very hard take-off), the gear wouldn’t retract and the gear sound would keep playing. This error had plagu...

Re: Cannon simulation
Can you provide any top level indication how these API's might be used? Sure! You define a cannon model, e.g. “M61A2” . It provides a basic description of how the cannon works – caliber, rpm, etc. Independent from any specific vehicle. In your vehicle, e.g. “F-22” , you declare a cannon that is bas...

TFXplorer gets a cannon API. It’ll be much like the engine API that was added lately. As a start, I have repaired the rendering of bullets. (It was broken since I separated the legacy EF2000/TAW renderer away from TFXplorer’s renderer.) This commit is not yet pushed; I will probably push it after so...

Re: Unreal Engine Guidelines for Next Generation Flight Sims
To be honest, I have decided back in 2019 – it must have been when Toumals F-117 remake fell apart due to lack of 64-bit coordinate support – that I will not make the Earth round yet. For one, it’s enormous work getting all this stuff right. Using 64-bit coordinates doesn’t save you from it because ...

Re: Unreal Engine Guidelines for Next Generation Flight Sims
Looks amazing...and it seems 64 bit coordinates are built in now. Indeed, the PDF says: We are pleased to say that Unreal Engine supports 64-bit calculations in its latest release, Unreal Engine 5. The integration of 64-bit precision means that the engine is now suitable for simulations that take p...

Russian SAM site exploding on Snake Island
SAM cannot shoot down small suicide drones – the radar confuses them with birds due to their small size, low speed, and non-metallic fabric. The hit makes a surface-to-air missile fire off.

Re: Jet Engine Simulation
Fixed that error; it was an uninitialized variable. Got in when I added the new engine API because TAW’s physics require access to the total torque on the plane.

Re: Away for a week
From about 2010, I started using Python for pure console stuff, but mostly went back to VB5 for anything with a GUI. Ever since I’m planning to give you an API in a non-C/C++ language, I was having an eye on implementing a Python binding. Not just for your enjoyment, but also for finding obscure de...

Re: Away for a week
Regard cross-platform: My Ninja-based build environment is 100 % ready, so we don’t need Visual Studio any more. I just haven’t pushed the change to the repository, as I want to test it out extensively. I wouldn’t like later corrections to such a huge and complicated change. The Clang build is 95 % ...

I’ll be on vacation. Don’t know if I’ll have internet (or time to use it). Happy Easter! Hope to see you back on April 23!
