Great progress!

I haven't had much time today, but have been comparing the English and German versions of SEF2000. As might be expected, the main difference is the strings in each language hard-coded into the exe.

Anyway. now I have both the English and German SEF versions running off the same extracted dataset. So, just checking my assumptions, I can run the Takeoff mission with both exe and see that I get the RAF and Luftwaffe markings in the respective exes...and I can then change NATO to SWEDISH in the ta...

Interesting! On the V2.0 disk, there are installers for Tactcom, Graphics+ and SEF2000. So, Graphics+ is installed all in one go without any need for patching. I can post a link to the resulting installation folder for the 3dFX version if you like. I haven't tried anything other than the 3dFX versio...

Is that comment about SEF2000 or the DOS Tactcom version? I see the German SEF2000 exe is dated 4 minutes later than the English version I got from this disk: ef2000.jpg Strange that there's French and German on the back, but the only installation is English. I need to go to did.com to complain. :D ...

Thanks again! I just run the 16-bit on my Linux PC, then copy the resulting folder as nescessary. That gave me an idea, but my Euro SEF2000 CD doesn't give the choice to choose the language...even though the French and German help files are included. Could you upload just the game exe (It's called _superw.exe on mine) of the German EF2000 as well?

...oh, and I'm definitely interested in the German Tactcom. so maybe you can upload it here as a zip file (if Krishty doesn't mind).

At the end of the line, yes, it's just texture coordinates. But we start with the mission configuration file, which for the 'Icebergs' scenario in the 'Free Flight' section of the 'Simulator' menu is called 'icebg.cfg' and contains this line: MISSION PLANE NORWEGIAN CAP OK 0 0 1 Running this mission...

I meant swap the US and UK symbols on that texture. As they are different sizes, the way to do it would be to swap the semaphore values in the .3 file instead....but this isn't the way to do it. They are all on this texture: We could just swap them about, but then if you specifically want UK or USA markings, they'd come out wrong.

Maybe, but TAW doesn't have rotations, and the only tiles that randomized are flat terrain for the most part. Certainly, no tiles with buildings on them are randomized.
The general idea was probably to give a bit more variation when flying over the desert, but not enough variation to affect the map.

som747.3 is different. Smaller I think.
The first parts of the file of all the others are identical. Maybe the SP version of the 747.

Yes, the roundals (or lack of them) is annoying. I suspect that aircraft desiganted as 'NATO' are using the US markings.

SEF2000 has the French and German files as well. There does seem to be more detritus even than EF2000 V2.0 though.
I use various Python scripts, continuously edited as I learn more.

The did.dat files for the various versions of EF2000 contain many more files than are used by the game. The European version of SuperEF2000 seems to have more than most, so that is what I've been looking at recently. This did.dat contains 8586 files, and here are the names of those filenames already...
