AWACS PATROL
"The AWACS Patrol mission is carried out by the Boeing E3 Sentry Airborne Warning And Control System aircraft. This aircraft provides a radar in the sky which is able to see most aircraft up to roughly two hundred and fifty miles away. The AWACS commander is able to control a developing air battle from this command post, and is able to communicate both by voice and data with all aircraft and other elements of command and control. For the purposes of this game ground targets detected by the JSTARS aircraft are also presented on the AWACS display.
During its mission the AWACS aircraft travels around an oval track in the sky at medium to high altitude safely well behind a protective barrier of CAP missions, and refuel aircraft."
