The border between Saudi Arabia and Yemen has been under dispute since the two countries were formed. As the border is empty desert it has been of little consequence until the discovery of oil. The Saudi Arabian government has split into several vocal factions. Two months ago one of these factions, by force of arms, gained control of the far south west of the country, claiming independence and making closer ties to arch rival Yemen.

The Original government (and largest faction) retains control over the rest of the country and enjoys the support of the UN, especially the USA, which maintains large forces on Saudi soil. Saudi government forces with US assistance are now set to retake this independent area with military action and at the same time deal with the increasing border incursions by all three Yemeni armed services.

Yemen has been supplied with <u>SCUD missiles</u> and modern fighters by Russia. These weapons are now being used to threaten the stability of the area. The US will use the opportunity to take out much of Yemen's strike capability, imposing a blockade by sea and a no-fly zone over the disputed border and the Gulf of Aden.

Your mission is to fly a Saudi CAP with your wingman along the disputed border area, starting in the air at 09:00 hours. You will have <u>air to air</u> weapons onboard.

The <u>Rules of Engagement</u> in force currently are as follows:

<c=g>1) All contacts must be identified visually by eyeball or Televisual sensor and must not be engaged until after the adversary has fired upon you and permission to engage has been granted by your flight lead</c>

<c=g>2) Positively no ground targets are to be engaged</c>
